Since the 1970s, he has donned rhinestone-studded jumpsuits and performed alongside soulful harmony groups like The Sensations and The ‘El’ Mania Band. Discovered at the Knoxville Fair, Elvis James quickly rose to fame, becoming a three-time Gong Show Road Show champion. His performances at the Du Quoin State Fair in 1979, where he sang hits like Hound Dog and Blue Suede Shoes, solidified his reputation as a top-tier tribute artist. By 1984, he was performing three shows daily and even auditioned for a role in an Elvis movie, proving his dedication to preserving the legacy of The King.
